Samuel Collins, 2nd, served in the Revolutionary War as an ensign, 8th Battalion, Pennsylvania Militia, 3rd Company in the year 1778; fifer, 1779 to 1781, lieutenant, 1783. "He was the precenter of the Queenstown, now Guinston United Presbyterian Church, and it was also his duty to give out all notices such as are now given by the minister. He had a sweet and most sonorous voice, and the notices given by the other precentors always appeared insipid. He was a substantial, independent, and hospitable farmer." - Purdy.
