About This Web Site

What is Snilloc? - Snilloc is Collins backwards. You can contact me at Jim@Snilloc.com if you have any questions or comments. I would be particularly interested in hearing from you if you have any information, especially photographs, for the people featured on this web site. If you see any errors, factual, spelling, grammatical, or any other, please point them out so I can correct them.

Why I am doing this - The purpose of this web site is to preserve the memory and the relationships of the people who have come before us. Rather than present raw dry facts my intention is to present each person as an individual related to the people they knew in their lives. Each person has a page and all the people related to them are connected through links to those other people's pages. Each page, when possible, includes a photograph to better personify the individual.

How it is done - Everything you see on this site was created by manually editing the raw HTML files using a basic text editor. I prefer this approach since it gives me the greatest direct control over the appearance of the pages and results in clean, simple, and fast loading pages without all the unneeded fluff that a lot of the more elaborate editors produce. I am aware that this is completely incompatible with all the genealogy software and databases out there but I am willing to put up with that to get the results I want. Eventually I hope to include many more photographs, sound recordings, movies, and video so that each person's page can become essentially a central point where all the information available on a particular individual can be found.

A Note on Privacy - In these days of weirdoes, stalkers, and identity thieves I am obviously very concerned about the security of my relatives. Because of this I will not include on this web site any information on anyone who is still alive or, to a large extent, anyone directly related to anyone who is still alive. If you are a distant relative this shouldn't really impact you since our connection will be in the distant past which is covered. If you wish to contact someone who is still around you can do so through me Jim@Snilloc.com.
