From the 1936 Collins Family Genealogical Table:
Samuel Collins Sr. was a weaver by trade and came to the U.S. from Scotland or the North of Ireland about the year 1760 and settled in the lower part of York County, Pensylvania. He was in the U.S. for two years before sending for his wife and three children who were three months making the trip across the sea.
