Grace Hamilton was probably the daughter of David Hamilton (1715-1801) who with his family came to York County several years before the Collins family came. Later the Hamilton family moved to South Carolina.

One of Mr. Hamilton's daughters, Jannet, married James Wallace, the grandfather of Eleanor Wallace Collins (Mrs. Archibald Collins). one daughter married Andrew Proudfoot; one a Mr. Allison, and one a Mr. Thompson, whose daughter, Agness, married Samuel Collins, 2nd; the father of Archibald Collins.
